A piece inspired by Steve Reich's 1960's tape phasing compositions ('It's Gonna Rain' / 'Come Out').
An eight minute looped one-bar drum pattern is layered five times. Each layer runs slightly slower than the preceding one. Each layer is positioned in stereo from left to right. As the track begins the layers are in sequence but gradually drift out of sync.
The sound is from an old Roland CR8000 drum machine –
a preset drum pattern named 'Rock 1'.
